Feb 25 Opening up with Chalk Talk

CHALK TALK ON OPENING UP FOR LUNA LUNA AND MAKING THEIR HOUSE OF BLUES DEBUT. A CONCERT REVIEW/RECAP/INTERVIEW ALL BUNDLED INTO ONE.

Chalk Talk’s House of Blues debut was magical. The band is comprised of 4 members: Nina Tartibi, Sophia Rose, Stella Singer, and Katie Pruden. Nina slayed on vocals and guitar. Sophia nailed it on the drums. Stella graced us on the piano and with some killer dance moves mid-set. Katie crushed it on the bass and even debuted an original song.

The group performed tracks off their 2019 release, Just a Girl Band, as well as covers ranging from Angel Olsen’s “Shut up Kiss me” to Britney Spear’s “…Baby One More Time.” The crowd was energetic, attentive, and filled with friends of the band, given that this was a Hometown show.

Here’s what Chalk Talk had to say about the performance:

“It was surreal to play at the same venue that our biggest inspirations played at while we were growing up. We have gone to countless shows at the House of Blues and never expected to be the act onstage. It showed us how quickly we can grow a following, only 7 months after releasing an album we have played over 15 shows locally. At the House of Blues, we saw new faces and we saw our old friends, who showed up to the first concert we played in a backyard years ago. I believe it was a turning point for us to realize that dreams can become a reality if you take advantage of every possibility and play every show if given the chance. We can’t wait to go back to the House of Blues in the future and continue to perform around local San Diego venues.”
